Design Manual Updates
The Department of Planning is updating the Design Manual
The Department of Planning has been working to update the Baltimore City Design Manual that was enacted in 2017 with the City’s new Zoning Code. The updated draft addresses most of the inconsistencies and ambiguity that came to light in the past year of implementation, as well as new design and development trends that emerged. Noticeable changes include:
- A reformatted style to improve readability;
- Updated “Sign” chapter to align with recent amendments to the Zoning Code;
- Clarification of ambiguous regulations carried over from the Draft Zoning Code into the Manual; and
- New standards for roof terraces and gas station site design in C-1 and C-2.
The proposed changes are linked below and will be presented to the Planning Commission for consideration on February 21st. There will be no vote of the Commission on that date but public testimony and input will be taken.
A public meeting will be held on Monday, February 11, 2019 at 5pm at the Department of Planning - 417 E. Fayette Street - 8th Floor to discuss the proposed changes and accept input from the public.
