Residential Development Analysis
The Planning Department is responsible for tracking the status of residential housing units in order to detect development patterns across the City. There are three major stages of development that we follow: Approved, Under construction, and Complete. Units undergoing approval are considered to be in the “planning pipeline,” or are currently undergoing review, whether for compliance with zoning, urban design or site standards.
Analyzing building and use permit data allows us to track these projects through the under construction phase through to completion. A project reaches the completed stage once all the residential units have received a use permit. Planning uses 2010 as the base year, and calculates the residential permit data on a quarterly basis.
